Lincecum: stoniest Cy Young winner ever

Tim Lincecum: Cy Young winning stoner extraordinaire.The Seattle Post Intelligencer is reporting that San Francisco Giants ace pitcher Tim Lincecum has been stopped for possession of marijuana in Washington. He was pulled over for speeding and the officer smelled a little green bud coming from the Cy Young winner’s car. When asked about it the young pitcher produced a sack containing some pot and a pipe. He was cited for the speeding infraction but not the weed.

So that gives us one of baseball’s best pitchers, Michael Phelps, one of the greatest Olympians of all time and Ricky Williams, one of the best college football players of all time and a Heisman winner. What’s so bad about pot again? The good news for Lincecum is that he didn’t get shot, shoot anyone or hit anyone while driving drunk. In this day and age a little weed is hardly a big deal.

My friend in the CHP says unless someone is driving dangerously or is disrespectful they will ‘wind test it’ which means make the person throw it out the window with no legal infraction. So this begs the question, with some of our best athletes stoned, is pot a performance enhancing drug? It could be, a little off the point but I met a guy once at Bay to Breakers who said the world record holder for most ping pong repetitions off a wall was set moments after the man burned a huge doob. OK, so it’s a little different, but Lincecum is clearly one of the best pitchers in baseball, so we need to get off the weed thing and play ball.
