Oh man. What a terrible game. The San Jose Sharks went about a minute into overtime before scoring on themselves, losing 1-0 in OT. Last year there was all this hype and everyone knew the Sharks were playing in the playoffs. Then they, the runaway first place team, lost in the first round like a bunch of junior league players to the Anaheim Ducks. This year, there is no hype and nobody is holding their breath. And after last night's sad loss, it's a good thing. The Sharks are down now 1-2 against the Colorado Avalanche. Nobody in San Jose expects much either. We are the home of the San Jose State Spartans, one of the worst overall athletic schools in the world, we know how to lose with dignity, you go to the parking lot and get hammered, then heckle opposing fans for wasting their time on a drive to San Jose.
Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle was trying to clear the puck from the side of the goal and hit it back toward Evgeni Nabakov in goal. The puck had a little more momentum than anyone in teal expected and seemed to bounce through Nabakov's glove for the overtime loss. It was an obvious error and it surely is killing Boyle right now, but mistakes happen. Hopefully the Sharks can tap into that regular season magic and come back. It would be nice to get out of the first round for once. Every year I almost become a Sharks fan, but they do this kind of post-season collapse every year adn I end up laughing. I already have a closet full of fanships for crappy teams, I don't need another.
