The Warriors: Taking Sucking to new Heights

Warriors: Even the team's logo, theme, mascot and uniforms are terrible.Warriors: Even the team's logo, theme, mascot and uniforms are terrible.I can't stand the Warriors. They are the epitome of terrible sports franchises. And in an era that is certainly the worst for Bay Area sports, they are the worst. They are so eternally bad from play on the court to management decisions that I think they should be dragged out into the street and relieved of their miserable lives. If I were an NBA player on draft day I would have my eyes shut, fingers crossed and would be repeating this mantra: "Anyone but the Warriors, anyone but the Warriors."

In their most recent successful season they rode the back of international thug Stephen Jackson, made the first round of the playoffs then traded away everyone who could play. Then their only remaining star, Monta "Scooter" Ellis broke his ankle doing side shows on a Vespa.

Too many penalties in NFL

Penalty Flag: slowing down the game.Penalty Flag: slowing down the game. There are too many penalties in the NFL. I said it. It seems like every game I watch is held up, stopped, drawn out and essentially boring. Between all the beer commercials, penalties, timeouts and instant video reviews.

How irritating is it to have to watch a referee watch a play in a little booth on the sideline?

This was supposed to be the year the Niners made the playoffs. I feel that the pieces are all there for this to be, not only a good team, but a Super Bowl team. Singletary is not a strategist and he plays a basic kind of football that is not getting the job done.

Stubborn Singletary goes with the flow

Alex Smith: Providing the 49ers with balance.Alex Smith: Providing the 49ers with balance. The 49ers abandoned the run and passed their way to victory. Alex Smith threw for two touchdowns as the Niners got the 20-3 win over the tough Jacksonville Jaguars. At the beginning of the season Singletary announced he was going to run, run , run the ball with Frank Gore. The Niners traditionally have been a team that used all facets of an offense to move the ball, and to win five Super Bowls.

Coach Singletary: on the sidelines vs ArizonaCoach Singletary: on the sidelines vs Arizona

Is Mike Singletary more hype than substance? Since getting the head coaching job in San Francisco (and a Boost Mobile advertisement deal and becoming the spokesman for the Niners ad campaign) he is 9-9.

A narrow win this week over his former team the Chicago Bears ended a four game losing streak after a strong start. The Niners have been a lost team since the end of the Steve Young era. Things were looking up this season as the Niners jumped to an impressive 3-1 start with a season opening win over division rival Arizona.

It was announced today that Oakland A's reliever Andrew Bailey earned the American League Rookie of the Year award. His appearance in the All-Star game made quite a wrinkle for baseball fans as people debated whether a guy no one had ever heard of should be in the All-Star game. With this announcement it appears it was a fair selection.

Crucial game for the 49ers

Patrick Willis: one of the new Niner stars.Patrick Willis: one of the new Niner stars.49ers v Titans: This Sunday the San Francisco 49ers take on the Tennessee Titans. The game is being billed as the battle of the 2nd chance quarterbacks. With the Titans' Vince Young fresh of his first start of the season and the team's first win seems to be in a position to remake a name for himself after last year's mid-season breakdown. The 49ers have their own resurging QB in Alex Smith who took the fall for the Niners fall from glory, despite being on a miserable squad.

Tim Lincecum: Cy Young winning stoner extraordinaire.Tim Lincecum: Cy Young winning stoner extraordinaire. The Seattle Post Intelligencer is reporting that San Francisco Giants ace pitcher Tim Lincecum has been stopped for possession of marijuana in Washington. He was pulled over for speeding and the officer smelled a little green bud coming from the Cy Young winner’s car. When asked about it the young pitcher produced a sack containing some pot and a pipe.
