With the Green Bay Packers locking up the number one seed in the NFC playoffs by routing the Chicago Bears on the special Sunday Night Football on Christmas Day and the San Francisco 49ers surely securing the number two seed this coming Sunday, I can’t help but think that the Niners will be in for an inevitable cold weather encounter in historic Lambeau Field for what should be a thrilling NFC Championship game.
NFC Playoff Picture
I guess I am getting ahead of myself here because the Niners will still have to win their divisional game at home before progressing to the NFC Championship. Moreover, they still have to get the number two seed as the New Orleans Saints are in hot pursuit.
From what I know of the NFL post season, if the playoffs were to start today the 49ers would be facing either the New York Giants or the Detroit Lions at home in Candlestick Park. That would be assuming that the Giants beat the Dallas Cowboys at home in what promises to be an amazing New Year’s Day clash on Sunday Night Football.
Braylon Edwards let go
I am disappointed that Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Braylon Edwards has been cut by the 49ers due to a lack of production this season and the continual injury that is troubling the 6 foot 3 inch 210 pound big body deep threat.
Anyway, San Francisco seems to have been getting a lot of decisions right and let’s hope that they do not end up missing Edwards who I always felt was a key addition. Still, I never expected the Niners to do so well this season after the turmoil last year and it is so inspiring to watch them.
